David Johnston, Chief Executive Officer

David joined the Social Mobility Foundation having been the first Director of Future, a charity which supports organisations working with young people and which is the sponsor of Pimlico Academy, a secondary school for 1300 pupils in the heart of London.

He was previously Coordinator of the Oxford Access Scheme, where he ran a range of one day and residential programmes for 10-18 year olds to raise their aspirations and encourage them to consider higher education and the University of Oxford.

In addition to being a governor at Pimlico, he is a governor of a sixth form college in East London and is on the board of an organisation for 11-16 year olds in Oxfordshire. David has a BA in Modern History and Politics from the University of Oxford.

Jade Broughton, School & College Relations Manager

Having graduated with a degree in English Literature and Language from Oxford University (BA Hons), Jade undertook a PGCE, teaching English in an Oxfordshire comprehensive school prior to joining the SMF. Whilst at University, she pursued her interest in widening access to Higher Education by volunteering for various schemes and organisations.

Raakhi Sunak, Employer Relations Manager

Raakhi is a Modern Languages graduate (BA Hons) from Oxford University where she was Founder and President of the UNICEF Society. She has international development experience, particularly within Brazil where she established an International Volunteer programme in a Rio de Janeiro favela, and worked in a municipal government and university. Before joining the SMF, she was interning at the Helen Bamber Foundation for victims of human rights abuses. Raakhi is currently a Trustee for Y Care International, the YMCA’s youth-focused international relief and development agency, and also delivers English classes at the therapeutic rehabilitation charity Room2Heal.

Nikki Feltham, Funding and Sponsor Relations Coordinator

Prior to joining the Social Mobility Foundation, Nikki worked for the management consultancy Accenture, providing consulting services to the public and third sectors. She worked with a variety of organisations from the NHS to a primary school in Hackney.

Whilst a consultant, Nikki focused on reform of the public sector, including undertaking a secondment to the Cabinet Office. Here she helped to establish the Capability Review programme across the Civil Service and directly supported Sir Gus O’Donnell, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service.

She currently also provides support to Chance UK and Community Links in London and is studying for an MSc in Voluntary Sector Management at the Cass Business School.

Matthew Browne, E-Mentoring Coordinator and Employer Projects Officer

Matthew graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2008 after reading Politics and American Studies before completing his PGCE at the Institute of Education in 2009.
