About Us
The Social Mobility Foundation is a registered charity which is working to secure internships in major private and public sector institutions for very able young people who lack the contacts and often the confidence to knock on doors that can seem terribly remote. In the summer of 2006, a year into the life of the Foundation, 80 students from across London were placed with one of the many institutions and individuals that have offered to take on youngsters. Amongst them were the Bank of England, BHP Billiton, Clifford Chance, Credit Suisse, HM Treasury, Latham & Watkins, Lehman Brothers, and a number of Members of Parliament.
Our challenge at the Foundation is to identify more companies and institutions that are willing to offer internships and to raise more funds to allow us to reach young people beyond London. Can you help us to make the rhetoric of social mobility the reality it must be if as a nation we are to prosper socially and economically?
