SMF Summer Reception
The Trustees of the Social Mobility Foundation held a Summer Drinks Reception in July at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Westminster, to thank employers for their support in providing internship placements for SMF students.
The Reception was hosted by the Rt Hon. David Lammy MP, Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property, who welcomed guests with an inspiring speech in which he offered an insight into his own background and stressed the importance of initiatives to improve social mobility.
The reception was also attended by the twelve SMF students who were in London for the residential internship week and were undertaking placements at Barristers’ Chambers. The students were later taken on a guided tour of the House of Commons by Mr Lammy.
We were very grateful for the opportunity to meet and thank those who had put so much effort into organising placements for our students. We look forward to working with all who came to the event in the future and hope to put on a similar event for supporters next summer.
We would like to thank Louis Armstrong and Danielle Yong at RICS for providing us with such a fantastic venue.
