The Bank of England is pleased to participate in The Social Mobility Foundation placement programme. We think it is very important that we play our part in helping young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, understand more about what it takes to work in an institution such as ours. A short spell immersed in our demanding but friendly environment is a great way to boost a student's motivation and confidence and help them focus on the importance of getting good qualifications and developing a range of skills. The Social Mobility Foundation is a registered charity which is working to secure internships in major private and public sector institutions for high-achieving A level students from low income backgrounds.

The Social Mobility Foundation is unique and innovative in that it brings bright young people into contact with world-class employers and careers that they might not have had information about.

This takes place at a time when students most need this information - immediately before applying for entry to university.
