Main activities
The main activities of The Social Mobility Foundation, and to which its funds are being applied, are described here.
The internship will continue to be the main programme provided by the Foundation, since this will provide information on the types of careers available at a leading employer and routes to entering these careers.
In 2007 and 2008, we intend that all students coming through the programme shall attend a one-day pre-internship workshop. Students will be taught presentation skills as well as the type of conduct expected of them in a professional environment. The pre-internship preparation will help to ensure that students take up placements with increased confidence and knowledge of how to behave at work.
We also intend that students coming through the project will have the opportunity to be linked to a mentor from one of the firms with which the Foundation is affiliated once they turn 18.
