The experience at the SMF of shadowing a barrister provided me with a highly insightful outlook into the world of law as a profession. I gained so much inspiration from actually being able to watch first hand, court room proceedings, as well as witnessing the barristers using their highly pragmatic skills under the pressures in front of a judge. The week also emphasised the uncertainty at times of the profession, but this just added to the thrill, since I never knew what I would be watching or looking at next, and ensured I was literally kept on the edge of my seat! Undoubtedly, the SMF week gave me a much more vivid idea as to what the process of becoming a barrister entails, and the steps I would need to take if I decide to pursue it as a future career.
