Having my own mentor through the SMF programme was really excellent as I was able to ask the questions I wanted regarding law as a profession. The system was very flexible and I regularly kept in touch with my mentor (at least once a week). Reading the posts on her busy job was actually very enjoyable and revealed how varied her job is, which in turn confirmed my wish to read law at university. My mentor was not only able to answer my queries but was also really helpful in supporting me by giving positive advice throughout the year, especially regarding the university process and writing my personal statement.

I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity by SMF to undertake a jam-packed internship and to share my experiences with a wonderful and encouraging mentor who has guided me through important stages of my education. I will definitely keep in touch with her outside of the mentoring scheme.
