Please note applications for our 2020 programme have now closed.

If you have applied for one of our residentials please make sure you have also sent us your paper eligibility form (accessible here) and that your nominated teacher was able to submit their reference.

All applicants will find out by email by February-March if they have been successful. If you have applied for APP City and APP Residential you will find out about these separately.

Overview

APP Residential offers high achieving and motivated students from across the UK the opportunity to undertake a one or two week residential internship with a top employer in London (or Middlesbrough for the Medicine Residential), with all expenses – travel, accommodation, and meals – covered. Whilst on residential students experience a practical insight into the employer or sector during the day, with skills sessions, university application support and fun activities in the evenings and weekend.

What Can I Expect?

The Internship

You’ll spend one or two weeks in the summer holiday with your residential group, having a fantastic insight to life at an organisation in your chosen sector. This will really boost your personal statement and CV and give you a chance to get to know what goes on in the professional world.

Professional development and career support

We know that success isn’t just about having work experience and getting the right grades, so throughout your internship you will attend skills workshops where you’ll learn how to make a good impression, network and be better informed about the profession you want to work in.

Support and supervision

Everyone on the residential will have a designated contact within the firm, as well as a Group Leader who will be on hand to help you with any queries. Your Group Leader will take you to and from the accommodation to your work place and activities so you won’t have to worry about getting lost in a new place!

A dedicated e-mentor working in the firm who supports you

You will be matched with an e-mentor to support you, offer advice and discuss your university and career options with you. This professional, working in the firm where you’ll undertake your internship, will be able to offer insider tips to help you navigate your way into your chosen career.

University application support

We will help strengthen your UCAS application with workshops to inform you about what universities you should apply to and support with the application process. We also have a personal statement checking service for you to receive individual feedback on your statement.

A chance to get to know the city

We also plan evening and weekend activities, such as taking a ride on the London Eye and seeing a West-End show, or bowling and crazy golf in Middlesbrough, all with the aim to help you unwind after a busy day, as well as for you to get to know other like-minded students on the programme.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page or get in touch if you have any more questions.
