The APP Law Insight Programme is the programme for you aspire to be a lawyer and want to know what it is really like to work for a multinational law firm. We have partnered with Akin Gump, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills and Linklaters to provide you with an insight into your chosen career. The three firms are among the most prestigious law firms in the UK – so you’ll be sure to receive the best advice from your colleagues during the internship.

If successful you will be allocated a placement with one of the firms based on your interests.

Akin Gump

Recognised for its sophisticated clients and capabilities as well as for its outstanding team of legal professionals, Akin Gump is a global law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers in 20 offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East advising across a wide range of practices and industries.

The firm’s market leading practices include: financial restructuring, corporate and equity capital markets, private equity, debt finance, project finance, energy, litigation and international arbitration, financial services regulatory, investment funds, international trade, EU competition and tax. 2020 is the first year that Akin Gump will be hosting students on the residential programme.

Clifford Chance

Clifford

Clifford Chance is a multinational firm with offices in many countries across 5 continents. It is one of the ten largest law firms in the world measured by both the number of lawyers and revenue. Many of the world’s leading organisations work with Clifford Chance and their clients include 60% of Fortune 500 companies. The firm works in a variety of practice areas including capital markets, corporate, litigation and dispute resolution and finance. Clifford Chance have hosted a residential programme with us since 2015.

Herbert Smith Freehills

As one of the world’s leading law firms, Herbert Smith Freehills advise many of the biggest and most ambitious organisations across all major regions of the globe. With 20 offices spanning Asia, Europe, Australia, the US and the Middle East, their reach is truly global. Herbert Smith Freehills LLP is a founding member of PRIME, a collaborative law firm initiative which aims to provide fair access to quality work experience to students from backgrounds under-represented in the legal profession. The Herbert Smith Freehills PRIME week is designed to give the students an insight into life at an international law firm while balancing a range of learning and development sessions. Herbert Smith Freehills have hosted a residential programme with us since 2015.

Linklaters

Link LatersLinklaters LLP is a multinational law firm headquartered in London. As of 2019, the firm has 30 offices across the globe. Linklaters counts more FTSE 100 companies among its clients than any other British Law firm. The work Linklaters does is divided into three broad divisions including corporate, finance and projects, and commercial divisions. Linklaters have hosted a residential programme with us since 2013.

White & Case

White & Case is an international law firm with some 44 offices spanning 6 continents. Serving companies, governments and financial organisations worldwide, they specialise in domestic and cross-border legal issues in practices such as Banking, Business & Human Rights, Employment, the Environment and International Arbitration. White & Case have hosted a residential programme with us since 2018.
