APP City supports high achieving students in lower sixth/S5 into competitive universities and top professions. It’s open to motivated, ambitious students in Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle with the ability, but without the means or networks to get there. We offer support through our four pillars:

  1. Mentoring by a professional via email
  2. Tailored skills sessions and career workshops
  3. University application support and guidance
  4. Internships with top employers

We offer support to young people interested in:

Accountancy | Architecture | Banking & Finance | Biology & Chemistry| Business | Digital | Engineering & Physics | Law | Media & Communications | Medicine | Politics | No Preference

There have never been more young people applying to university and graduate jobs are extremely competitive.  The APP is designed to support hard working students who might not have family members with the relevant educational or career experience to guide them. If you’re bright and determined, but not sure how to get to where you want in terms of university and jobs, we can help. We want to give you the opportunities to show your potential no matter what your background is. At the SMF we are proud that the majority of our students go on to the top universities in the UK and undertake experiences and opportunities with us that help them gain employment in prestigious organisations.

Some of the firms supporting the Aspiring Professionals Programme and who are offering the opportunity to gain experience include:

Aberdeen Asset Management, Arup, Baker McKenzie, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cambridge Associates, CH2M, The Economist, EDF Energy, Financial Conduct Authority, Financial Times, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Linklaters, Mott McDonald, The Observer, Pinsent Masons, Siemens, The Spectator and UCL Hospital.
